As an undergraduate Software engineering student, I believe we need to grant a lot of experience and expertise before rising up to the industry level. In today’s digital age, there are numerous opportunities for an IT undergraduate. Contributing to an Open Source project is one of the greatest ways to improve self-awareness in areas such as communication, project management, leadership, and programming. When I was looking for ways to advance my profession, I came across a nice organization with a good vision.
OpenMRS is one of the most impressive open-source projects I’ve come across so far.

What is OpenMRS?

OpenMRS is a collaborative open-source project to develop software to support the delivery of health care in developing countries. OpenMRS is founded on the principles of openness and sharing of ideas, software, and strategies for deployment and use.

The noble purpose of OpenMRS.

“Improve healthcare delivery in resource-constrained environments by coordinating a global community that creates and sustains a robust, scalable, user-driven, and open-source medical record platform.”

What have I accomplished so far on OpenMRS?

I’m currently a volunteer developer for OpenMRS, and I’ve worked on numerous teams, including the quality assurance team and also working on some issues related to the DHIS module in OpenMRS.

So here’s my first PR for this great project.

Ticket / Pull request

I’ve hit a new milestone in my open Source adventure with OpenMRS. I’m pretty much sure that this open-source project will be a great push to those who seek opportunities.

Let's write code and save lives. Thank you!!
